The invention of Bitcoin has started a chain reaction which will keep reverberating for decades as it changes the way we see value and the way we deliver services to users. It spurred the invention of Ethereum and smart contracts and it’s not slowing down as projects like Tezos, EOS, Chainlink and Holo aim to further push and redefine the decentralization spectrum. I invite you, dear reader, to look at the forest and not the trees. For even a minute: forget your favorite projects that you push no matter what and look at what’s happening in the grand scheme of things. People are putting their trust in code and in each other as they start using all kinds of different cryptos to pay for goods and services. The spread of crypto is accelerating.
There are people who say we don’t need to have anything other than Bitcoin. There are also others who’ve accepted alts (i.e. alternative cryptocurrencies) but only to the extent of their own favorite holdings and to the detraction of all others. Then there are yet other people who accept most alts and who believe we will have many cryptos in the future which people will use and trade amongst each other. To us the latter people are the ones who have really “gotten” the crypto mindset. These people realize that the future has many decentralized projects which offer numerous services and goods, too vast an array to imagine today. We believe in the expression of thousands of different visions and having even more experiments within each and every one of these individual crypto projects. We are legion and we came here to fundamentally disrupt the current centralized nature of value sharing and community organizing on The Greater Internet of all. Our only enemies are our greedy egos and the loss of vision.
Enter Ether-1. Our motto is #DecentralizeEverything and we offer decentralized file and website hosting via the www.ethoFS.com product. Each file and each website is hosted by our very own community members who get rewarded for it. But wait, there is more! Our projects believes that the stakeholders and the node operators should be the ones in charge of making the rules for our network. This is very rare as most projects choose to centralize control to the core team, or even worse: to a single person who holds all the keys! The holders of such projects give up their right to choose and put their faith in a single person without a clear step-by-step method of being truly decentralized. We accept the existence of such projects and wish them good luck because even rotten fruit is known to make fine wine every once in a while.
We put our money where our mouth is by changing the Ethereum consensus protocol to directly pay our node holders without requiring a central processor and a person with the key to run it. Service nodes are cool but only if they help decentralization and provide legitimate services. Unlike most other “node projects” we truly see nodes as a way to further decentralization while enabling us to take most of the load off the chain itself and offer services similar to how a centralized entity does it but in a completely decentralized manner. With our nodes being part of our consensus, we can build with them while not worrying about a single centralized server of process failing and taking the whole network down and embarrassing the central person in charge.
Ether-1 takes rapid testing and improvement very seriously. The Xerom chain was started to test and fine tune decentralization improvements before they’re implemented on the Ether-1 chain. The Xerom chain trades on exchanges just like Ether-1 to enable all those who are interested in participating in the sandbox project in doing so easily while giving the Ether-1 developers a real world chain with real world users. This type of approach is leaps and bounds better than isolated test chains. It’s also yet another way we will decentralize our ethoFS storage platform, by allowing the content hashes to be stored cross-chain.
This is the best time to join the Ether-1 project and make your mark on history by helping supplant centralized systems the world over! We are in the process of bootstrapping our governance system as we speak. If you believe in democracy and freedom and what crypto can offer to make them more accessible to people, you should most definitely get off the sidelines and join the little experiment we call home. Holding crypto is one thing but actually participating in crypto is a completely different experience, much more textured, rich and satisfying.
We don’t promise easy riches, that disingenuous. What we promise is a front row seat to the future where crypto has enabled a whole new understanding of barter and value sharing, a future where you fully understand the underlying technology and have even perhaps undertaken being a blockchain developer or a community organizer in a sea of helping hands.
Just think of all that we can build together.
