Salt Lake City, Utah/[Date]/ Salad Technologies — Introducing the Salad Miner, the alpha-stage mining collective who aims to convert gamers (at first) en masse to the ways of Blockchain. With over 120k “chefs” on the network to date, Salad is ready to open its gates to the mass market to test the platform and deliver on their promise of being “the easiest, most trusted way to monetize your PC’s idle resources.”
In 2018 Salad’s Founders took a long hard look at the state of blockchain and anticipated that crypto mining is simply too hard or complicated for most gamers. However, the underlying value proposition – idle your PC for a monetary reward – had the potential to entice millions. Removing the friction points could expand crypto from a small base of hobbyists and enthusiasts into the general consumer computing market. Hence, the Salad Miner was born and the company took aim at persuading PC gamers and techies to monetize their idle compute at the click of a button.
Developed well after the crypto “boom” phase of 2017, where one saw the average user intrigued by the prospect of monetary gains gleaned from mining – these same potential adopters were often discouraged or blocked upon encountering “brick walls,” like:
- Setting up crypto wallets
- Assessing day-to-day profitability
- Configuring various miners/protocols
Additionally, the cryptocurrency they might gain posed another obstacle: non-liquidity. Their variable valuation and clunky exchange process began to dwarf the initial value proposition. Even those with capable PCs and some technical experience (gamers, professionals) were not adopting due to the time investment needed to “boot-up” into crypto and blockchain.
Salad seeks to erase these pain points by automating or obfuscating the various processes to the background. Salad handles everything from holding the crypto coins, exchanging it to liquid funds, and determining mining profitability across several pools on an hour-to-hour basis. Each of these activities are attention intensive individually, but Salad boils them down to “push start to earn.”
Salad also addresses the consumer concern of “what do I do with all this magic internet money?” Salad abstracts the exchange process and instantly delivers the value of what a user has earned in the form of “Salad Balance,” which can be used to redeem anything from Whole Foods Gift Cards, Steam Credits, or Visa Prepaid Cards. Salad also assumes the risk of hodling the crypto for the user, allowing them to keep their personal value even if the crypto the mined devalues.
While the app currently caters to gamers, allowing Salad to tailor to their specific demands and needs, the company hopes that their ease of use will pave the way towards massive consumer adoption and entrance into the crypto space; allowing Salad to build a computing infrastructure to support the growth of Web 3.0 and a decentralized internet.
